ABOUT
Being whole is not possible without being a part. We cannot be together without being apart. Party only feels as such when it comes to break up an everyday life. An exhibition is a part of the gallery space and the other way around. The visitors’ experiences become a part of the artists’ story. In the process of creating the exhibition, Olya Tsikhanchuk explores what parts make her an artist. An illustrator, a graphic designer, an artisan, and an artist, she wants to nurture these identities as well as erase the borders and show that one can be everything and all at once. There is no need nor there is a rule to limit your curiosity and desire to experiment.
Being an immigrant Tsikhanchuk went from breaking up her original identity into parts and constructing a new one, more complex, more versatile, more adaptive, and more accepting. Tsikhanchuk invites the visitors to be a part of the exhibition: “You will find your reflections in the artworks in one way or another. Welcome to your colourful world, you chose to enter.
